It’s proper to look after “me”
At least that’s what I claim.
I think I can meet my needs.
In reality, I don’t have a clue!
I like to worry. Not to pray.
When I pray, I’m found asleep.
My duty is to love,
But God first, then my neighbor.
I realize that I’m shallow.
When my own ways disappoint,
I remind myself about God.
He will finish His work in me.
May self-love and self-dependency never delight.
I stand on Christ. His work alone.
His goodness is deep and His plans are sure.
